Care Jam 2021 - Caring Across Generations, Code Coven, Counterpoints Arts and National Domestic Workers Alliance

At the end of 2021, I took part in the Care Jam where Team Woodpunk, a team of 6, created a game concept centred around our main character Hyrtan who is a wheelchair-using elemental. Our goal was to create a driven and able main character just like any other video game. Tasked with creating the backgrounds, I went for a highly textured, children’s book illustration style to not only contrast with Hyrtan and Fluvis but also to capture a tactile, hand-made feel to emphasise our theme of strength and vulnerability.

Follow our main character, Hyrtan as she tries to save the heart of her world. In this puzzle platformer, Hyrtan is a fire elemental who uses a wooden wheel to assist her movement. She is a strong fire healer and with the help of her friend, water elemental Fluvis, she discovers what it means to wield the power of destruction and conservation.
